You can buy shares in some corporations who pay dividends but you're better off talking on the market forums for that; it's quite a specialisation and not really a "new player" thing.
There's no automated way to get isk, no. --

That's pretty much what most of us do :-)
what you can then do, is make enough isk from the Market and start trading. That's kinda a "passive" way to get isk; your sell and buy orders can be fulfilled whilst you're not logged in; although realistically they need to be updated at least once or twice a day (sometimes more in busy systems). --

there are ways to get some passive income but it usually require a pretty big initial investement in ISK(think a few billions usually) or in time(datacores which require quite a bit of training)

I was under the impression that research agents provided a means for doing this (provided you don't neeed the resulting datacores for your own T2 research).

Research agents WILL give you research points every day, which you can use to get datacores which you can then sell for ISK, but people don't consider it because:
- the skills required to be able to talk to multiple agents and open multiple research projects cost 10 - 60 million each.
- each agent gives out very few points per day, so if you want to make any sort of money, you're pretty much forced to train the skills for multiple, and use 3-4.
- it requires relatively high faction standing (which you must grind beforehand) to get the high-quality high-level agents that give good RP / day
- the value of datacores is constantly going down, as more and more people accumulate theirs and try to sell them. What was once 700k per is now 100k per, and going down even further.
All in all, if you look at time and cash investment to do this, for profit, it's basically easier and more profitable to just mine veldspar an hour per day, by far.

If you are new and haven't started salvaging, i suggest that. Lost more money in salvaging than in the mission bonuses themselves usually.
You should be able to find a salvaging tutorial somewhere.
(You need the skill salvaging and a salvager, which is a high slot item).

there's a lot of other ways to make ISK if missions aren't your thing.
As far as passive...Trading is relatively passive. If you update your orders and haul stuff around every once in awhile you will have a decent flow of ISK coming in.

Im trying to figure out whether this is an advice towards scamming or an elaborate plan to ruin any possibility of the OP getting into a corp :P

It's never too early to start trading. I started out one account with tens of thousands of ISK and turned that into hundreds of thousands, then turned that into millions, then......well you get the picture. It was slow at first, but it builds exponentially.
You don't need billions in capital to start trading. ______________________ Isn't it time you learned to fight back? Agony Unleashed Home of the PvP University.

Well, the stock/bond market is not easy to figure out... Every time someone posts an IPO, e.g. an offer to sell shares or bonds against a more or less specific monthly or weekly interest rate, people flock to it like lemmings, without any scepticism or patience, e.g. to demand that an "audit" is done.
I did invest 300M ISK in 3 different IPOs in June, and they all turned out to be quite profitable good, but to be honest, that was sheer luck on my behalf. I could very easily have ended up losing some of my ISK, or perhaps even all of them.
A better thing to do, than risk shares or bonds, might be to look at the banks in EVE.
Currently I am aware of two in-game banks. EBank is the biggest and most well known, but it pays a very low interst rate of 1.5% per month (old customers get a better rate of 3%, but as far as I know there are no plans to ever offer such a "princely" rate to new customers. Basically people like you and I missed the bus, and there ain't ever gonna be a new one).
Dynasty Bank is smaller and a lot sexier, and depending on how long you're willing to tie up your ISK, you can earn up to 10% in monthly interst.
I should mention, though, that I work as PR Manager for Dynasty Bank, so it is basically my job to inform you that we exist. If you want more information about Dynasty Bank, you can visit our website at http://bank.dyco-eve.com/ , or join the in-game chat channel "DBank", or write a post in the Market Discussion forum.
Also, for good measure, here is the URL to EBank: http://www.eve-bank.net/, although I'm confident that you'll find our interest rates much more attractive.

Moon mining is a semi-passive income. You need to fuel your POS and collect the materials. Generally it's better to react materials and sell those products as it's more profitable.
Finding the right moon-minerals to react, finding relatively safe space in 0.3 security or lower and the large investment cost are just 3 of the hurdles to get over. You'll need some sort of large ship as well (jump freighters are almost perfect, but an industrial could do it).
So it's not really a solo-newbie setup, more likely a small corp setup as a minimum, although it is possible to run these as a solo player.

As others have said the nearest thing to automated ISK is using research agents to gain datacores.
Big initial investment in skill points and time to get the rep to use the agents.
Once this is done harvest the cores every month or so. Then sell on market.

Better yet, buy GTC, sell GTC, deposit the ISK in a bank, then take out only part of the interest you earn, and re-invest the rest in the bank. -- Salpad |

Are you sure?
After you click on the reports tab, you need to click on a month in which we've been active. There's no report for January 2008 because IIRC, we weren't active until February so that's the first month. Also, the last months of 2008, and all months of 2009, are empty, since we haven't created those reports yet.
Try starting with the Feb 2008 report: http://bank.dyco-eve.com/reports/2008/feb.php Then March 2008: http://bank.dyco-eve.com/reports/2008/feb.php Then work your way forward...
Once you're satisfied that we're a serious business, and that our money guys (Iknota, Manalapan and Exec ORder) knows what they're doing (and that they know what I'm doing, or at least that they have a vague idea about what it is they're paying me a salary for), just send ISK to one of the tellers (Iknota or Manalapan), but remember that there's a deposit limit of 500M ISK per month for personal accounts.
For that reason, you might want to consider making your final decision no later than the 31st of October, since that way, you'll be able to deposit your final 500M ISK on the 1st of November. If you hesitate until this month is over, you won't be able to shift your last 500M ISK into the bank until December comes around.
Then again, it's your money, and ISK should be taken seriously. Perhaps it is wrong of me to tell you to hurry, in this fashion.

I believe I was attempting to view reports in 2009, that's why nothing came up. I was looking into a CD, I assume I'm not capped at entering 500m into a CD each month?

Just a note of warning: One of the biggest scams of all time involved a banking/investing type scenario. It was beautifully executed over a very long period of time and involved lots of supporting documentation and reviews and included a well put together web site. At the end of the day it made around 700 billion isk for the scammer.
Look up EVE intergalactic bank.

You assume correctly. Once your ISK are in the bank, you can make CDs of any size. Also there's no per-month withdrawal limit.
